CHERYL PAINTER

Cheryl was born and raised in the beautiful Cowichan Valley; and yes - as ironic as it may seem, 'Painter' really is her surname! From an early age and perhaps due to the artistic genes of her creative Grandmother and Mother, a career as an artist always seemed to be in the cards for Cheryl.

Her post secondary schooling included an introduction to Fine Arts at the University of Victoria followed by a year at the Victoria College of Art. She later moved to North Vancouver to attend Capilano College where she completed a diploma in Graphic Design. After a successful career in that field, Cheryl quit the business to focus on raising a family. In breaks during that endeavour, she would resume what would ultimately be her career calling - painting.

With North Vancouver as her home base, she uses her escapades with her family for inspiration. Local parks, various spots in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the BC Interior provide a kaleidoscope of subject matter. She likes to paint scenes that have a bit of nostalgia; old barns, windswept lighthouses and common everyday objects of comfort and beauty. Cheryl tries to express some of the joy she feels when painting, into each of her paintings.
